The 'Local Government and Local Governance Research Network' (LGLG-RN) is a voluntary, peer-to-peer network of scholars, post-graduate students and independent researchers, established in 1996. It seeks to join researchers working in the broad area of Local Government Studies, based in any region of the world, with the aim to develop the joint study of Local and Urban Governance issues. The LGLG-RN facilitates and promotes collaboration in research, namely with members of the AUPRN and UEPNET. In the initial years it comprised mainly forms of bilateral cooperation but soon its nature and scope became multilateral and multidisciplinar. It has a close relationship with the 'International Journal of E-Planniing Research' (IJEPR), established in 2012, and since 2016 with its Annual Conferences on 'Urban e-Planning' too. The LGLG-RN endorses the Springer Book Series 'Local and Urban Governance', established in 2018. The LGLG-mailing list is its digital instrument for the dissemination and discussion of scholarship on local and urban governance research.
